For anyone who’s ever been to a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, they know that it’s typically a long day. And for any photographer who’s ever shot one, it can be an even longer day. After the morning or early afternoon service there’s an intermission, and then a party is held at night for all the kids. Well, if you’re like me, and you drive some distance to the service, then the dilemma is what to do during intermission, because it can be up to 5 or 6 hours sometimes. While a lot of other people are taking a nap, I get to decide whether I want to drive back home (only to rest for a short while and then deal with traffic again), or to just stick around in the area and find something to do. Needless to say, my bat/bar mitzvah days are longer than my typical wedding gig.
So why do I do it? Because I have a lot of fun, that’s why! At the end of the day, I’ll come home extremely exhausted, but I’ll go to bed thinking it was all worth it.
