Bar Mitzvah – Pacific Palisades

I never intended to post this, but I came across it a few days ago and thought it would make for some interesting content that you all might enjoy.

As a wedding photographer, I feel confident in any photographic situation.  The way I see it, a wedding is just a particular type of event, and an event is an event is an event.  Not too many people would agree, but as a photographer that’s the way I see it.  And for anyone who is looking for an event photographer — be it for a wedding, bar mitzvah, birthday party, etc., I ask that you consider that the photographer’s “vision” and “work ethic” is what you should be concerned about, and not whether he/she has experience in photographing an event of your kind.  The same goes for the location; of all the places I’ve ever shot at, I’ve been to less than half of them more than once.  It’s understandable that one would look for a photographer who has a lot of experience in shooting a particular type of event at a particular location, but if you value the work of a less experienced photographer more, then I would definitely take that photographer into consideration.

So what’s my point here?  Well, I don’t consider myself a Bar/Bat Mitzvah photographer.  I haven’t done many of these types of events.  But again, it’s an event, and I’ve had great experiences in photographing them.  I really appreciate that my clients have trusted me to capture these important times in their lives.

The lighting in the interior of this place is a photographer’s dream — plenty of light to allow shooting without flash.  This was only my second time here, and yes, one of the few locations that I’ve worked at more than once.  I can only imagine how many bar/bat mitzvahs they have at this location.

And as always, Paula Gild and her team did an amazing job at designing and producing this event.
