Today I went out for an afternoon hike since the weather was nice and it wasn’t very hot. I just needed to get away from my computer before my eyes went crazy.
I took Melissa and we cruised around in my backyard — the Santa Monica Mountains. I brought my camera in case I saw anything interesting, and also to scout out potential locations for future shoots. When I saw this tree, I asked Melissa to stand by it. I just happened to like the scene, and I wanted her in the shot to show scale. For this particular shot, I was only able to fire off one frame before she started screaming. She had ants crawling all over her and, because I had previously stood against the tree to demonstrate the pose, I too had ants crawling all over me. We spent a good 3-4 minutes getting them off of ourselves.![]()
